Kingman man pleads guilty for role in slaying

A Kingman, Ariz., man will get an 8½-year prison term in a plea agreement ending prosecution for his involvement in a drug-related homicide.

John Langan, 33, will be sentenced May 10 after pleading guilty Wednesday to hindering prosecution.

First-degree murder and other charges are dismissed in the deal, which punishes Langan for helping clean up the murder scene and for trying to deceive investigators by relocating the victim’s body.

Deputy Mohave County attorney Doug Camacho said Langan was in the Kingman home of co-defendant Russell Shields, 42, when Shields shot and killed Alberto Orozco, 28, in the garage in July 2011.

Camacho said the defendants left the victim in the passenger seat of his own vehicle after Langan drove it from Shields’ residence and parked the vehicle in the 3200 block of Lomalai Street.
