The driver of a school bus involved in a traffic accident that killed another motorist and injured a number of Kingman High School students in northwest Arizona on Tuesday has been issued a traffic citation.
Bruce Hurley, 52, of Kingman, was cited by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for failure to control a vehicle to avoid a collision.
Also, Kingman Unified School District Superintendent Roger Jacks said Hurley, who has been driving for the district since November, has been suspended from driving, but will perform other duties for the district while the accident is under review.
Hurley was turning onto Arizona Route 68 from Teddy Roosevelt Road when an approaching convertible ran into the bus. The driver of the Chevy Cavalier, Bridget Bruce, 27, of Golden Valley was dead at the scene .
Bruce's 5-year-old son was seriously injured in the accident. A hospital spokeswoman said the boy was discharged from Kingman Regional Medical Center later Tuesday.
Hurley and 11 students on the bus were released from the same hospital after they were treated for minor injuries Tuesday.
Hurley has been directed to make an initial appearance in Kingman Justice Court on Nov. 2.
