LAP 228: KYLE TAKES THE LEAD
Lap 220 – 65 to go.
Burton’s Chevy still leads and is 1 second ahead of Johnson.
Not sure why but I think we’ll be going to an overtime shootout. Maybe I’m just hoping.
Leaders pit under green and then the yellow comes on lap 221 out after his right-front tire blows and takes out part of the fender. Johnson was on pit road when yellow came out then he slid through his pit stall, causing one crewman to hit the pavement.
Now Burton and Labonte pit. Great break. They waited and were bless with a yellow so they didn’t have to pit under green.
Let’s see how the standings shake out after the pitstops.
This is the 11th yellow to tie the track Cup record set last year. In an early blog I believe I said the record was 13. Sorry, about that.
Perhaps it was a premonition and we’ll have two more.
You can count on that.
Kyle takes the lad from Burton on lap 228. Unbelievable.
Standings after 230: Kyle, Burton, Labonte, Vickers, Reutimann, McMurray, Clint Bowyer, Edwards, Joey Logano, and Paul Menard.
Kyle leads Burton by 1.4 seconds.
This could come down to fuel and pit stop strategy if it stays green.
