Las Vegas man killed in Mesquite collision
A 49-year-old Las Vegas man died Saturday after colliding with a garbage truck in Mesquite, the Nevada Highway Patrol said Monday.
The Highway Patrol identified the deceased man as Robert W. McGrew. The collision occurred about 5 a.m.
McGrew was driving a 1996 Chrysler van west on Hafen Lane approaching an intersection at state Route 170.
Meanwhile, a 2007 Autocar garbage truck was traveling north on Route 170 approaching Hafen.
The Highway Patrol said McGrew failed to stop at the intersection and his van entered the intersection as the garbage truck was also entering the intersection. The front of the garbage truck struck the left side of McGrew's van.
McGrew was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured.
