Legislative bureau’s director will retire

CARSON CITY -- The director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau said he will retire before the next legislative session starts in 2013.

Lorne Malkiewich told the Reno Gazette-Journal that he wanted to give legislative leadership notice of his intentions. He said that he has applied for some other jobs and that if he is hired he would leave sooner.

Malkiewich has been with the bureau since 1981 and will mark his 30-year anniversary in two weeks.

He has been director since 1994.
