Live, from Beijing, it’s just a dream
NBC is doing it again. Force-feeding us their prime time Olympic coverage with the illusion of parts of it actually coming to our living rooms live from China. Dream on.
The only folks getting anything live on their NBC affiliate station are those on the east coast. Us Westerners are on tape delay. Again.
Come on guys, this is 2008! Anyone who cares to know who won what, when has that information long before they much-hyped "coming up in 14 minutes, Michael Phelps goes for his second gold medal," ballyhoo Bob Costas and company are feeding us. The ONLY reason to tune-in to the coverage is to see the video of the event itself. I'd already read a full account of the race long before I saw it "live" a little after 11 p.m. Sunday. All the major online news sources have live reporting from the Olympics. Nothing tape-delayed there, thanyouverymuch.
The least the wizards at NBC should say is the broadcast is from an earlier live telecast (three hours ago). Even Saturday Night Live has that notation for those not getting the actual live feed.
