Local seniors invited to activities, celebrations at city centers

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; sports; and special events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and older. Many of these activities contribute to wellness and a healthy lifestyle.

A listing of classes and activities is published in the Beyond the Neon Leisure Guide, available in the centers and online at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Find/recreation.htm. All activities are subject to change.

Most activities require $2 annual membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs, available at all senior and active adult centers. Centers will be closed May 28 and July 4.

n Ballroom dance socials with live music from Boyd Coulter and his band: Tuesdays, 3-5:30 p.m. and Fridays, 2-4:30 p.m.; $4 per day; Las Vegas Senior Center.

n Grief and Loss Support Group: second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.; Centennial Hills Active Adult Center.

House passes bill to extend health care subsidies in defiance of GOP leaders

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the bill would increase the number of people with health insurance by 100,000 this year, 3 million in 2027, 4 million in 2028 and 1.1 million in 2029.
