Looking for something? Google knows already

Google's ever-morphing logos this week has led to something new — a faster Google.

Yesterday's bouncing-ball Google logo was replaced temporarily today by an all-gray logo that added colors as you typed into the search box.

Welcome to Google Instant, a predictive feature designed to bring you to your search goal even faster than the older flavor of Google. A Google page with information about the feature says users will save between two and five seconds per search. I guess it all adds up. You may have an extra minute, or two, by the end of the day.

It's far easier to see for yourself, but here's a screen shot to give you an idea. I began typing "Las Vegas," and the list of suggested terms changed with each letter. The more I typed, the more refined the search became. There is no need to hit an "enter" key to execute the search, as the search results appear automatically

Start typing your query and Google delivers suggested results

Results automatically populate the search page as you continue typing.

It's pretty cool and something I've already been using with my iPhone’s Google app.

Just as there was yesterday, there's plenty of buzz across the Internet about the Google logo and what it means. Here are several stories featuring the new feature on Google and the mystery of the changing logos:
