Lt. Gov. Krolicki endorses Heller for Senate

Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki on Tuesday endorsed Rep. Dean Heller for U.S. Senate, taking himself out of the running.

Krolicki said he's still considering running to replace Heller in a House race that's expected to be highly competitive.

"I told Dean that I will do everything within my power and skills to help him become the next U.S. senator," Krolicki said in a telephone interview. "Dean has been my friend for 20 years and I will back him. Dean Heller is my candidate."

In 2010, Krolicki considered challenging U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, but bowed out because of legal troubles. Krolicki was cleared, however, in what he called a politically motivated investigation of him related to a college savings fund.

Krolicki said he would decide within weeks whether to seek the 2nd Congressional District seat.
