CARSON CITY — A magnitude 2.8 earthquake shook the Carson City area early Sunday, the latest in a string of temblors there this month.

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory said the 4:30 a.m. earthquake was followed by more than a half-dozen smaller aftershocks later in the day.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that there now have been 18 quakes in the Mexican Dam Road area of southeast Carson City this month.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office said the 2.8 quake prompted no calls.
