Man, 36, faces up to 12½ years in death of 7-month-old girl

A 36-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter in Kingman, Ariz., in a case involving a baby who was injured in Lake Havasu City and died in Las Vegas.

By accepting the plea deal, Glenn Michael Peralta of Corona, Calif., avoids a first-degree murder trial but faces a mandatory prison sentence of three to 12½ years.

Prosecutor Doug Camacho said Peralta was watching several children when he fatally injured his girlfriend's granddaughter in October 2007. Seven-month-old Dakota Harryman suffered brain and head injuries and died at Sunrise Medical Center, Camacho said.

Sentencing is set for March 23.
