Man, 51, dies in scooter crash

A 51-year-old man died after crashing a scooter near Jones Boulevard and Washington Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Police did not identify the man who later died at University Medical Center.

Jose Montoya, spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department, said the man was traveling north on Jones on the right paved shoulder when he struck a curb, hit a pole and then hit a wall.

Police were notified of the crash about 1:30 p.m., Montoya said. It was the 67th traffic-related fatality in the department's jurisdiction this year.
