Man arrested after pedestrian is struck, killed

A 49-year-old Las Vegas man was struck and killed by a car while walking on McLeod Drive near Flamingo Road on Friday.

The accident occurred at 6:24 a.m. when witnesses said a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse hit the man from behind, according to Las Vegas police.

The victim, who was not identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Police said they arrested 46-year-old Jeffrey Rutenbach on charges of felony driving under the influence resulting in death.

The collision remained under investigation.
