Man convicted in slaying outside restaurant
After three days of deliberating a Clark County jury on Wednesday evening found a 24-year-old Las Vegas man guilty of murder.
Carlos Orellana was convicted of second-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon and battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.
Authorities said Orellana was responsible for the Feb. 1, 2009, shooting death of model and aspiring football player Brandon Gahagan outside of a restaurant.
Gahagan, 21, was shot outside of Olive Mediterranean Grill and Hookah Bar on Sunset Road, near Sandhill Road
The shooting followed a fist-fight outside the restaurant between Gahagan and another man.
Orellana also wounded another man in the shooting, according to court records.
Orellana will be sentenced in June.
