Man dies in I-15 accident

A 47-year-old Southern Nevada man died Wednesday evening after the pickup he was driving overturned in the median of Interstate 15 north of Las Vegas, said Kevin Honea, spokesman for the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Neither the driver nor the 28-year-old woman riding with him was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected from the truck, Honea said.

The two were southbound on I-15 near mile marker 80, about 30 miles north of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, when the driver swerved into the median for some reason, Honea said. Authorities were called to the wreck at 5:23 p.m.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and his passenger was taken to UMC with injuries that were not life threatening, Honea said.

The name and hometown of the dead man were not released Wednesday night.
