Man dies in two-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle wreck Thursday on Lake Shore Road in the Lake Mead National Recreational Area left one man dead and another six people injured, authorities said.

The 6:45 p.m. wreck occurred about two miles from the Boulder City entrance to the park.

A Cadillac sedan carrying five men was traveling south on Lake Shore when the car hit a median, flipped onto its roof and skidded down the road only to be struck by a van heading north and carrying two women and a toddler, said Roxanne Dey, spokeswoman for the National Park Service. One of the men was killed.

The toddler was not injured, Dey said. Four men in the Cadillac and the two women in the van were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The severity of their injures were not immediately known.

There were no obvious signs that alcohol or drugs played a role in the wreck, Dey said.

The women were wearing seat belts, and the toddler was in a safety seat, she said. At least two men in the Cadillac were wearing seat belts, she said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
