Man drowns in Lake Mohave cove

The National Park Service said a 20-year-old man drowned in a Lake Mohave cove on Wednesday.

Park rangers received a 911 call shortly after 4 p.m., but had trouble identifying the location due to poor reception in the Placer Cove area, an area in the southern section of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Bystanders pulled the man, who was not wearing a flotation device, out of the water and delivered CPR until rangers arrived. The man was eventually declared dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the park service said alcohol was involved.

An investigation is ongoing.
