Man fatally shot near UNLV

A man died after being shot at an apartment complex near UNLV Tuesday night.

Las Vegas police received calls of gunshots in the 4300 block of Escondido Street, near Maryland Parkway and University Avenue, about 8:10 p.m. Soon after, a person called for medical aid for a man with severe injuries in the same area, according to police.

When officers arrived at the Tammany Hall Apartments located at 4386 Escondido Street, they found the man dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the man, but were not successful, police said.

The identity of the man will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office pending notification of next of kin.

Las Vegas violent crimes and homicide detectives are still investigating the scene.
