Man found dead after fire at Elko County ranch house

ELKO - An investigation is under way after a man was found dead in a house that was destroyed by fire in Elko County.

Sheriff Jim Pitts told the Elko Daily Free Press that the Friday morning fire at Red Rock Ranch outside Jiggs does not appear to be suspicious in nature, but it's still under investigation.

He said the man was tentatively identified as 86-year-old Curtis Otto, but a positive identification won't occur until an autopsy is performed Tuesday.

Investigators are unsure who initially reported the 7 a.m. fire.

The Nevada Division of Forestry responded to the blaze and called the Sheriff's Office after the body was discovered.
