Man found dead in apartment after fire

A man’s body was found in his apartment, dead from an “accidental cooking fire,” a Clark County Fire Department official said today.

Scott Allison said firefighters were called at 9:48 a.m. to the 3200 block of Casey Drive — the Camden Palisades Apartments — near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road.

The deceased appeared to be in his 20s, Allison said.

Allison said a neighbor saw smoke in the apartment. Upon arrival, firefighters found the man dead on the ground by his bedroom window.

The Clark County coroner’s office has yet to identify the man.

Allison added that Las Vegas police aided in the fire agency’s investigation which is customary when a body is found at the site of a fire. Police officials concurred there was no foul play.
