Man gets jail term for drug, probation violations

The felonious associate of Family Court Judge Steven Jones violated the terms of his probation and was sentenced Wednesday to six months in jail.

Thomas Cecrle, Jones' former brother-in-law, will receive 109 days credit for time served and a dishonorable discharge from probation when he leaves the Clark County Detention Center.

District Judge David Barker imposed the sentence.

Cecrle pleaded guilty to attempted possession of drugs last year in front of District Judge Elizabeth Halverson and received probation and 90 days in jail for the offense. But Cecrle went missing for 16 days, refusing to show up at the jail.

Police found him at a motel in Henderson with drugs in his possession and arrested him Feb. 27. He remained in custody until his revocation hearing in April, when Halverson gave him probation plus more than 100 hours of community service.

But after failing to meet his probation officer and fleeing from an ordered drug test, police arrested Cecrle in June at the Fiesta in Henderson.

Police found methamphetamine in his possession.

His attorney, Richard Schonfeld, said he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge in Henderson for the methamphetamine found on him in June and received concurrent time for the attempted possession charge.
