Man gets life sentence in torture slaying

A jury today spared the life of a 32-year-old man convicted of killing a man during a drug-fueled 2006 episode and sentenced him to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

It sentenced Corey Pearce to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing 42-year-old Michael McClain.

Authorities said Pearce tortured McClain inside a condominium for several days before killing him by hammering a screwdriver into his skull.
