Man held in death of another

One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting on Tamarus Street near Tropicana Avenue on Thursday.

Las Vegas police said Mauricio Israel Melendez, 34, was arrested on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

The victim has not been identified.

Officers found the body shortly after a 2:35 p.m. call from the apartment.

Detectives arrested Melendez shortly after discovering the body, but police wouldn't release further information.
