Man killed in U.S. 95 accident
July 19, 2007 - 9:00 pm
A 19-year-old North Las Vegas man was killed when he was ejected from the 2001 Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle he was driving after it overturned late Friday on U.S. Highway 95, about eight miles south of Railroad Pass, authorities said.
The Clark County coroner's office identified the driver as Andres Brito Jr.
Three other passengers in the vehicle also were ejected, said Trooper Kevin Honea of the Nevada Highway Patrol. A fourth passenger was not ejected.
All of the passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of critical injuries, Honea said. Nobody in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, he said.
The wreck occurred at 10:12 p.m. when the vehicle, heading north on U.S. 95, veered left onto the shoulder and began to rotate around, Honea said. The vehicle then went into the median and overturned.
