Man killed on U.S. 95

A 54-year-old man who was wandering in the roadway on U.S. Highway 95 on Sunday afternoon died after a sport utility vehicle struck him near the College Drive exit, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The man, who had a history of seizures, was the passenger in another vehicle that had run out of gasoline and had pulled to the side of the highway, said trooper Kevin Honea.

The driver of that vehicle had walked down the highway to get gasoline, leaving his passenger inside. The passenger got out of the vehicle and walked through southbound traffic about 4:30 p.m. looking disoriented, Honea said.

He laid down in the far right-hand lane and was hit by a woman driving a Lexus, he said.

The woman did not appear to be at fault in the accident, Honea said.
