Man pleads not guilty in boy abduction case
An alleged drug-runner accused of plotting to abduct a 6-year-old boy to send a message to the boy's grandfather has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in Las Vegas.
Jose Luis Lopez-Buelna's lawyer said outside court today he didn't think the boy can identify his 48-year-old client from the Oct. 15 abduction.
First-grader Cole Puffinburger was later found unharmed on a Las Vegas street.
Lopez-Buelna and 36-year-old Luis Vega-Rubio could face 20 years to life if convicted of conspiracy to kidnap a child.
Vega-Rubio pleaded not guilty last week. Trial is set for May 19.
They allegedly wanted to reach Clemens Tinnemeyer after he made off with $4 million in drug proceeds.
