Man sentenced in death of a Good Samaritan

KINGMAN, Ariz. -- A man who murdered a Good Samaritan who provided him a place to stay was given a 16-year prison term during his Friday sentencing.

Kenneth Paule Kneale, 45, was convicted of second-degree murder in the November, 2008 shooting death of Joe Ciolino, 36.

Prosecutor Rod Albright said the victim was a decorated Marine who was wounded while serving in Somalia. He said the homicide occurred at Ciolino's home in a remote location outside the tiny town of Yucca.

Albright said both men had been drinking and that Kneale apparently caught Ciolino by surprise in an ambush.

"He came up behind him and put four bullets in his head and we'll never know why," Albright said. He said the murder took place just a few weeks after Ciolino allowed Kneale to move in temporarily, as Kneale was going through a breakup with his wife.
