Man shot, killed in front of his apartment complex

A 40-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot in front of his central valley apartment complex Saturday night.

Las Vegas police said the shooting took place at 8:41 p.m. at the Shepherd Hills Townhomes at 1950 Simmons Street, near Vegas and Rancho drives. The man had just taken his children into his apartment and returned to his vehicle in the parking lot when he was shot.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released. Police did not release any suspect descriptions.
