Man struck, killed crossing Lake Mead Boulevard

A Las Vegas man was killed Sunday after being struck by a car while crossing the street, Las Vegas police said.

The accident happened at 8:42 p.m. when a 59-year-old man tried to cross Lake Mead Boulevard from north to south, just west of Valley Drive, police said. He was not identified.

The man was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford Explorer. He was then struck again by a white sport utility vehicle, which fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information on the white SUV is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555 or Detective Mike Laythorpe at 828-3342.
