Man trimming trees at Mirage dies

A worker on the Strip died while trimming trees at The Mirage Wednesday morning.

It is unclear how Las Vegas resident Arturo Mendez, 31, accidentally died while working in the Horticultural Department at The Mirage hotel and casino, owned by MGM Resorts. He was transported to the hospital, where he died.

“We are keeping his family in our thoughts as they go through this difficult time,” MGM vice president Clark Dumont said in a release Friday.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
