Man wanted for robbing, beating elderly woman arrested
Glenn Scruggs, the 44-year-old man wanted by police for robbing and beating a 69-year-old woman in her home, was arrested Saturday, Las Vegas police said.
The Las Vegas man is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of robbery, battery with intent to commit robbery, battery with substantial bodily harm and robbery of a victim over 60 years of age.
Police say Scruggs robbed and beat a 69-year-old woman and her daughter in their home near Fremont and 11th streets about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday night. The victim's daughter said she knew Scruggs because he frequented the downtown area. He followed her home from the grocery store, asked to use the phone and became aggressive when the women refused to give him money.
Scruggs' criminal history in Las Vegas begins with a fourth-degree arson conviction in 1985 and includes several other convictions ranging from robbery and grand larceny to drug charges and attempted murder, police said.
He is currently being held on $16,000 bail.
