A 25-year-old man who attacked Clark County jail guards with a baseball bat was sentenced Monday to a three-to-10-year prison term.
Michael Law was sentenced by District Judge Carolyn Ellsworth after a brief hearing. He pleaded guilty in January to one felony count of battery with use of a deadly weapon.
Law told detectives he was seeking revenge because police failed to thoroughly investigate when he was robbed, according to a Las Vegas police report.
Law went to the Clark County Detention Center Sept. 11 and hit the first officer he encountered, Darren McCray, who was struck in the head, neck, jaw and finger, the report said.
Police have said they were unable to find a report or call that had anything to do with Law’s claim of being a robbery victim.
Law has a history of run-ins with police. In 2007 police arrested him on robbery charges. Later that year, he was arrested on charges of obstructing a public officer.
In 2008 he was arrested on a warrant related to the obstruction charge. He was also booked on burglary and grand larceny charges, police said.
