Man who crashed into Muddy River dies

The man who crashed his car into the Muddy River near Logandale Wednesday afternoon, died soon after at University Medical Center.

The unidentified man was traveling northbound on State Route 169 around 2 p.m. Wednesday when witnesses say he veered off the road and down an embankment before rolling over into the river, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Honea said.

Volunteer firefighters and Las Vegas police officers pulled the man out of his sport utility vehicle. Honea said the man was unconscious when crews arrived.

He was airlifted to University Medical Center, where he later died.
