Manteris rejoins Snyder at KVBC
KVBC-TV, Channel 3, has appointed veteran anchor Sue Manteris to succeed Nina Radetich on the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Manteris also will handle the 10 p.m. anchor spot on the CW, KVBC's sister station on Channel 33 and cable 6.
Manteris joined the KVBC News 3 team in 1989 as an anchor/reporter and has anchored News 3 at Sunrise and News 3 at Noon for the past decade.
In the press release issued by the station, Manteris said "it's an easy move, and a pleasure" to rejoin Jim Snyder on the anchor desk. Longtime friends, they co-anchored on News 3 Sunrise.
She replaces Radetich, Snyder's long-time co-anchor, who left KVBC after more than 10 years last week and has joined KTNV-TV, Channel 13 as a 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. anchor.
Meanwhile, insiders say a recent KTNV-TV, Channel 13, photo shoot with Jerry Lewis may have given away the station's anchor plans.
When Lewis came to the station to shoot promos for the Labor Day weekend Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon, the only on-air talent to appear with him were anchor Tricia Kean, lead meteorologist Bryan Scofield and Casey Smith, who joined KTNV last summer after leaving his morning anchor slot at KLAS-TV, Channel 8. His one-year non-compete clause is up in August.
Notably missing: current evening anchor Steve Wolford, whose contract is up this year, and longtime anchor Cathy Ray, who has been out on medical leave. Sources say she is not planning to return.
KTNV is airing the local MDA telecast for the first time, after KLAS broadcast it for years.
