Massachusetts man killed in I-15 crash identified

A Massachusetts man killed in a wrong-way highway crash Monday night was identified Thursday.

Charles Charkowski, 67, of New Bedford, Mass., died about 10:30 p.m. when his Ford Escort struck a Toyota Camry on Interstate 15 about 30 miles north of Las Vegas, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Police said Charkowski was driving south in the northbound lanes before the head-on collision. He died at the scene.

The Camry driver was hospitalized but is expected to be OK, police said.
