Mayo spread thin by Lakers

A photo of O.J. Mayo is featured on the main page at NBA.com. The photo cutline reads: “Mayo has been sensational at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.”

That’s truth in advertising, for the most part. Mayo has produced more than a few memorable moments. But the Memphis Grizzlies rookie was on the wrong end of a highlight today.

Mayo was stripped on a crossover dribble, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwayne Mitchell took the ball the other way for a dunk.

Turnovers are a problem for Mayo, who had 15 points and six turnovers in the Grizzlies’ 85-76 loss to the Lakers. He committed nine turnovers Friday in Memphis’ opener.
