Medicare bus in LV today

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service will roll its information and assistance bus into Las Vegas today, providing senior citizens a chance to ask questions about their options for 2008 health and prescription drug coverage.

Open enrollment for Medicare begins Thursday and lasts through Dec. 15.

During open enrollment, current Medicare beneficiaries, and those recently made eligible for the federal health plan, will need to select coverage for the upcoming year.

The bus will be at the Arturo Cambeiro Senior Center, 330 N. 13th St., from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center, 5400 Rainbow Blvd., from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Medicare counselors will be at both locations, with laptop computers, to help people review their current Medicare health plans, including Part D prescription drug coverage.

Counseling is free, and no appointment is necessary.
