Men wanted in robbery of elderly couple

Two men are being sought in connection with a home invasion earlier this week in the east valley in which an elderly couple was tied up, Las Vegas police said today.

The robbery occurred Thursday about 6:30 p.m. in the area of Desert Inn and Theme roads. Police said two men knocked on an elderly couple’s door. They used a ruse stating their basketball had gone over the fence, police said. While the front door was opened, the men forced their way into the home and an elderly man was punched in the face. Police said the attackers then tied up the couple.

Police did not report what items were stolen.

The first suspect is described as black, between 35- and 40-years-old, between 6-feet and 6-feet-2 inches tall. He weighs about 220 pounds. He was dressed in all black and carrying a semi-automatic handgun, police said.

The second suspect is described as black, between 25 and 30, about 6 feet tall and 190 pounds.

This is the latest robbery targeting seniors in their homes.

On Oct. 20, 44-year-old Glenn Scruggs robbed and severely beat a 69-year-old woman and her daughter in their home near Fremont and 11th streets, police allege.

On Oct. 14, police said, 20-year-old Daniel Ruiz attacked 65-year-old Constance King at her home near Smoke Ranch Road and Buffalo Drive. Police said Ruiz tricked King by requesting help finding a missing puppy.

Both Scruggs and Ruiz are now in the Clark County Detention Center.

Anyone with information in connection to Thursday’s home invasion is urged to call the Metropolitan Police Department’s robbery section at 828-3591, or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
