Metro officer hurt after Laughlin wreck

A Metro officer was injured and a police car sustained "major damage" in a two-vehicle crash in Laughlin on Saturday, according to police.

The police patrol vehicle was T-boned by another vehicle just after 8 a.m. at Bruce Woodbury and Thomas Edison drives, about 100 miles south of Las Vegas, Metro spokesman officer Jesse Roybal said.

The police officer who was driving was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Bullhead City, Ariz., about 7 miles from the crash, and has since been released, police said.

There was major damage to the police vehicle, Roybal said.

The other vehicle had moderate damage. Its driver was treated at the scene for injuries.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the driver of the non-police vehicle was cited, but Metro established the department wasn't liable for the wreck, Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.
