Michigan father guilty in attack on crossing guard

LANSING, Mich. -- A Michigan man has been found guilty of assault and battery in the beating of a 73-year-old school crossing guard who stopped a fight between his son and another boy.

The Lansing State Journal reports Friday that a jury also found 26-year-old Darrell Livingston guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The mother of Livingston's 6-year-old son also was found guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Shareka McKinney was found not guilty of assault and battery.

Their attorney didn't comment after the verdicts.

Their son and a 7-year-old boy got into a fight on March 30. Police said the parents set up a rematch the next morning, then attacked the crossing guard when he intervened.
