Soldier connected to NLV killed

Army Pfc. Kimble A. Han, a former Cheyenne High School student, was killed Friday in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan along with another soldier, Department of Defense officials reported Monday.

Han, 30, of Lehi, Utah, and Spc. Eric N. Lembke, 25, of Tampa, Fla., died of wounds they suffered when an improvised bomb exploded near their vehicle.

Both were assigned to the 569th Mobility Augmentation company, 4th Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colo.

Clark County School District records show Han attended Cheyenne, in North Las Vegas, in 1996.

Army records list Han as a combat engineer. He joined the Army Jan. 17, 2008, and served in Iraq between February and May of this year.

Han was transferred to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Han's awards include a combat action badge and campaign medals with stars for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Han is the 65th U.S. military personnel with ties to Nevada to die in the nation's wars overseas since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
