Vegas fundraiser planned for Honor Flight
Red Rock Harley-Davidson will host a pancake breakfast Saturday to raise money for Honor Flight Southern Nevada, a nonprofit organization that plans to fly 33 World War II veterans to see memorials in Washington, D.C., in early October.
This will be the organization’s third trip to take local veterans to see the National World War II Memorial. More than 50 made a trip in April.
The breakfast fundraiser will be from 7 to 11 a.m. in the Red Rock Harley-Davidson parking lot, 2260 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Sahara Avenue. Tickets are $5.
All proceeds will help finance the trip that begins at McCarran International Airport on Oct. 3, with the veterans returning on Oct. 5, said Belinda Morse, executive director of the all-volunteer Honor Flight Southern Nevada.
Funds are needed for the round-trip flights, hotel rooms, wheelchairs, bus transportation and meals.
Interested supporters who can’t attend the pancake breakfast can donate at the group’s website, honorflightsouthernnevada.org, or by calling its office at 702-749-5912.
The first trip for local veterans to visit the World War II Memorial with Honor Flight Southern Nevada was in October 2013.
