More enter domestic partnerships

CARSON CITY -- In Nevada, 1,002 couples have registered as domestic partners.

The law passed by the 2009 Legislature extends rights similar to those held by married couples to cohabiting couples, gay or straight.

More than 700 couples pre-registered to receive their certificates on Oct. 1, the day the law took effect.

House passes bill to extend health care subsidies in defiance of GOP leaders

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the bill would increase the number of people with health insurance by 100,000 this year, 3 million in 2027, 4 million in 2028 and 1.1 million in 2029.
