Most Memorable Rodeo Countdown – No. 9

Members of the rodeo community have helped reporter Jeff Wolf select the 10 most memorable events of the past 49 National Finals Rodeos.

The countdown to No. 1 continues.

No. 9
2007, Las Vegas
Purse: $5.5 million
Event attendance: 174,087

Trevor Brazile had a year that he never can match.

Not only did he win his fifth all-around world championship, he also finished No. 1 in calf roping and steering roping to become the first to win rodeo’s triple crown in 24 years, since Roy Cooper accomplished the trifecta.

Brazile might match or exceed his rodeo accomplishments, but he and wife Shada never can have a first son. Treston Brazile turned 1 on Monday.

Brazile won steer roping for the second time a month before the Finals. His calf-roping championship was his first in the event.

He won a record $425,115 during the year, which topped the mark he set the previous year by almost $100,000.
