Motorcyclist dies after losing control on U.S. 95

A 31-year-old Henderson man died on U.S. Highway 95 Tuesday evening after he was ejected from his motorcycle and struck by a car, a spokesman with the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Kevin Honea said the accident occurred about 6:45 p.m. on southbound U.S. 95, between Rainbow and Jones boulevards.

Honea said the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his bike. He was hit by a dark sedan.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Honea said authorities want to speak with the driver of the dark sedan, who might not even be aware that a person was struck.

"You have a reasonable expectation that there's not going to be person in the travel lane," Honea said.

Because of the accident, southbound traffic was reduced to one lane for more than two hours.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is urged to call the Nevada Highway Patrol at 432-5205.
