Motorcyclist dies in accident

A Henderson man died Monday night after losing control of his motorcycle on Boulder Highway, Henderson police said.

Around 7:40 p.m., 21-year-old Ray C. Griffin was unable to negotiate a curve on Boulder Highway near Wagonwheel Drive, and his 2008 Harley Davidson struck a concrete barrier, police said.

Riding near Griffin on another motorcycle were Mark Thurtle and Samantha Ross, both 20. Police said Thurtle tried to avoid Griffin, but Thurtle lost control and laid his motorcycle down, skidding to a stop. Both Thurtle and Ross were taken to St. Rose Sienna Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Griffin was taken to St. Rose de Lima Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

All three were wearing helmets.
