Motorcyclist killed by wrong way driver

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a car going the wrong way on U.S. Highway 95, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Joseph Fackrell said an elderly driver was traveling south in a Subaru on northbound U.S. 95 shortly after 10 a.m. close to the Decatur Boulevard turnoff when the car struck two motorcyclists.

One of the motorcyclists died and the other sustained injuries, Fackrell said.

The Subaru's driver was not hurt. Alcohol did not seem to be a factor and the driver may have "just been confused," Fackrell said.

Traffic on northbound U.S. 95 was backed up for hours while troopers worked the accident.
