Motorcyclist killed in crash

A 48-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night when a 15-year-old boy driving a sport utility vehicle pulled out of an apartment complex and hit him.

The boy fled the scene and was arrested Wednesday.

Las Vegas police said the motorcyclist, who was not identified, was eastbound in the center lane of Desert Inn Road east of Fort Apache Road. A Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 29-year-old Adelita Elias was beside him in the left lane.

At 8:30 p.m. the juvenile, who was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon, pulled out of the Sky Court Harbor apartments on Desert Inn Road, police said.

He hit the right side of the Harley-Davidson Softail, sending the rider into the right front of the Mitsubishi, pinning him under the car.

The juvenile driver of the Yukon fled but was located and charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death. Because he is a juvenile, police are not releasing his name.

The motorcyclist was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Elias was not injured.
