Motorcyclist killed in crash was Idaho airman

A motorcyclist killed Saturday when he was struck by a car going the wrong way on U.S. Highway 95 was identified Monday.

Jason Wayne Vernon Leigh, 32, from Mountain Home, Idaho, died in the crash, a spokeswoman with the Clark County coroner's office said.

According to the Mountain Home News, Leigh was an airman stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. He was on temporary assignment at Nellis Air Force Base.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reported an elderly driver was traveling south in a Subaru on northbound U.S. 95 shortly after 10 a.m., close to the Decatur Boulevard turnoff when the car struck two motorcyclists.

Leigh died, and the other motorcyclist was injured.

The Subaru's driver was not hurt. Alcohol did not seem to be a factor, and the driver might have "just been confused," police said.

Traffic on northbound U.S. 95 was backed up for hours while troopers worked the accident scene.
