Motorcyclist ran red light in fatal accident in Henderson, police say

A fatal accident in Henderson Thursday evening was caused by a motorcyclist running a red light, Henderson officials say.

Just after 7:30 p.m., a 53-year-old man was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle on Boulder Highway, police said. He ran a red light at Major Avenue and struck a 2013 Dodge Avenger.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. After an investigation, police think alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The Clark County coroner’s office has not yet identified the man.

The Dodge driver, a 46-year-old female, was uninjured and police said they don’t believe she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There was a passenger in the car who was transported to St. Rose Sienna Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This was the first traffic fatality in Henderson’s jurisdiction this year.
